Officials in Leominster, Fitchburg and the surrounding area are pushing for upgrades to Route 2 in order to attract more businesses and investment to the area.

A task force has been formed to brainstorm ways to fix issues like the Concord Rotary, which causes backups for in- and outbound traffic and other road infrastructure problems in the area,  the Fitchburg Sentinel & Enterprise reported.

The task force is also looking at short-term fixes if the millions of dollars necessary for updates can’t be found.
