Linda MacLeod FannonLinda MacLeod Fannon, senior project manager at Elkus Manfredi Architects of Boston, has been elected president of the Boston chapter of the Retail Design Institute (RDI).

The Retail Design Institute is dedicated to the advancement and collaborative practice of designing and building retail environments Its Boston Chapter is one of its strongest, with membership including area architects, interior designers, contractors, educators, and suppliers to the industry, according to a statement.

MacLeod Fannon’s career has centered on the design of branded environments. Early on, she worked as a prototype designer for Timberland stores worldwide, then oversaw store planning and design teams for Target, Mervyn’s and Marshall Field’s. She currently leads projects for Elkus Manfredi, a firm well known for its master planning and design of large retail developments, according to a statement.

"It’s a great honor for me to have this opportunity," MacLeod Fannon said. "We have a terrific group of industry leaders in the Boston Chapter, and I’m really looking forward to working with them on the newest evolutions of retail development. We plan to add special focus to our programs: application of the latest technologies, with strong emphasis on experiential, customer-driven retail design. These are challenging and exciting times in the world of retail, and I will bring my fullest commitment and energy to strengthening the RDI organization."
