A $4.5 million construction loan from Rockland Trust and a charitable donation by the bank are contributing to the development of new arts facilities at Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall School in Waltham.

A 9,000-square-foot addition to expanded visual and performing arts center, The Barn, updates the historic structure with a new theater, music classrooms, studios, makerspaces and a glass atrium gallery. Additional upgrades to the expanded 22,000-square-foot facility include a digital arts lab, musical instrument practice spaces and a professional sound and lighting booth.

The project broke ground in 2018 after completion of the school’s $2.5 million “Building Creativity” fundraising campaign. The Rockland Trust Charitable Foundation also made a donation toward the project.
