Salem Five has fully made over its ATM network, replacing all 25 of its machines with upgraded, fully ADA-compliant units that also boast better security.
ADA compliance requires that ATMs now include the following accessibility features, all now available at Salem Five ATMs:
- Speech-enabled to serve the visually impaired
- Height and reach standards
- Tactilely discernible keypads for the visually impaired
- Improved display screens with a standard font and font size
- Braille
- Privacy screen options for those using voice guidance
The machines also feature the latest anti-skimming technology, the bank said. Skimming is a form of theft where an ATM card’s magnetic imprint is "stolen" and later rendered onto a new, illegal card. This risk is eliminated on Salem Five’s latest machines.
All 25 new ATMs were purchased from Georgia-based bank technology vendor NCR.
"We listened to marketplace needs and responded. Salem Five’s ATM network is state-of-the-art, serving all our customers equally and securely," Janis Dodge, senior vice president of retail banking at Salem Five, said in a statement.
