Boston developers Samuels & Assoc. and Weiner Ventures have completed their acquisition of the Howard Johnson Inn property at 1271 Boylston St., where they plan a major new development.

Diana Pisciotta, a spokeswoman for Samuels & Assoc., confirmed the purchase today. Pisciotta declined to release a final price.

In 2010, the developers floated plans for a pair of 12-story buildings including 175,000 square feet of housing and a 170,000-square-foot hotel at the 1.5-acre property across the street from Fenway Park.

There is currently no formal application before the Boston Redevelopment Authority, but Pisciotta said a detailed proposal will be announced this spring.

Robert Sage opened the motel, originally called the Fenway Motor Lodge, in 1959. The motel closed at the end of 2013.

Samuels & Assoc. has been active in the recent development scene in the Fenway area, including a proposed expansion of the Landmark Center anchored by a Wegman’s supermarket.
