Matthew Santangelo has been named senior vice president and senior wealth strategist in Northern Trust’s Boston office.

Santangelo will be responsible for engaging with clients, prospective clients, and tax and legal advisors to develop and implement customized wealth management, philanthropic and legacy planning strategies. He reports to William S. Buccella, president of personal financial services at Northern Trust in Boston.

"Matt’s broad experience and deep understanding of the wealth management business gives him the ability to understand clients and craft top-notch strategies to help them meet their financial goals," said Buccella. "We believe Matt will be a valuable addition to our team."

Santangelo has more than two decades of experience in wealth management. Most recently he served as first vice president – investments and senior trust & estate specialist at Merrill Lynch in Boston. During his 17 years with Merrill Lynch, he advised affluent families in the areas of fiduciary asset management, trust and estate planning strategies, personal philanthropy and financial planning.
