Robert K. Sheridan, president and CEO of The Savings Bank Life Insurance Company of Massachusetts, was recently honored by the New England Board of Higher Education (NEBHE).

Sheridan was among a group of individuals and organizations that received the board’s 2010 New England Higher Education Excellence Awards. 

A former vice chair of the University of Massachusetts board of trustees who currently serves as chair of the UMass Building Authority, Sheridan received the regional David C. Knapp Award for Trusteeship.

Each year, NEBHE presents regional excellence awards to individuals and organizations that have shown exceptional leadership on behalf of higher education and the advancement of educational opportunity. The organization also presents state merit awards to honor the innovative work of organizations, institutions or individuals in each New England state.

Sheridan is an active member of several professional and civic associations, including the board of directors of the New England Center for Children, the executive committee of the New England Council, the board of trustees of the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation, the dean’s advisory committee of Suffolk University Law School and the Chief Executives’ Club of Boston. He also chairs the board of directors of the Life Insurance Association of Massachusetts.
