Andrew Shapiro, of Chelmsford, has joined Citizens Bank as a mortgage loan officer at the bank’s Woburn office.

Shapiro has been in the mortgage business for eight years. He is an experienced originator of both conventional and government home financing, specializing in working with first-time home buyers, according to a statement.

Shapiro graduated from Ithaca College with a bachelor’s degree in business.

"Citizens Bank is committed to the mortgage business and, specifically, to growing our home financing operation in the Massachusetts market and throughout our retail banking geography," said Ellen Steinfeld, senior vice president in the bank’s home lending solutions division.
