Boston-based Shawmut Design and Construction took part in a topping-off ceremony this week to mark progress in construction of a new Academic Inquiry Center building at Noble and Greenough School in Dedham.

Scheduled to open in January, the project includes a new 21,400-square-foot building designed by William Rawn Assoc. The facility includes a 10,000-square-foot Putnam Library, library, meeting rooms and faculty offices.

The project also includes updates to the adjacent 31,650-square-foot Baker Building including classrooms and labs for biology, chemistry, physics and workrooms for electronics and robotics research. A new entry and lab addition will bridge the space between the two buildings.
