MassHousing has awarded $453,037 in financing to more than 100 units of affordable sober housing in eight communities across the state.
The (CCRI), a nonprofit subsidiary corporation of MassHousing, is providing the grants, according to a statement. CCRI has awarded more than $5 million in grants to more than 1,200 units of substance-free housing to date.
"These latest grants from CCRI will help provide very important affordable sober housing in communities across Massachusetts,” said MassHousing Executive Director Thomas R. Gleason. "The men and women who use this housing are on their way to overcoming addiction and returning as healthy, productive members of our commonwealth.”
The following sober housing programs are receiving the grants:
• Springfield’s Greater New Life Christian Center – $75,000
• Quincy’s Neighborhood Housing Services of the South Shore – $70,000
• Worcester’s Latin American Health Alliance of Central Mass. – $75,000
• Hardwick’s South Middlesex Opportunity Council – $35,037
• Pittsfield’s United Veterans of America, Soldier On – $70,000
• Somerville’s Graduate Residential Opportunity for Women – $28,000
• New Bedford’s YWCA of Southeastern, Mass. – $75,000
• Oakham’s Dismas House – $25,000
