Kendall Square Corp. has partnered with GOAL ZERO to install solar powered charging stations in Cambridge’s Kendall Square.
The charging stations, known as Street Charge, were also installed along The Rose Kennedy Greenway in partnership with Life is Good.
"We are pleased to partner with Kendall Square Corporation to bring solar phone charging to power-hungry smartphone users in Cambridge," Chris Abbruzzese, a representative of Street Charge, said in a statement. "They have provided many cool amenities in this mixed-use development and do a great job of making green living inviting and rewarding. Street Charge is the perfect next step."
Street Charge is powered by solar panel and battery technology from Goal Zero. It allows people to charge their phones and hand-held devices using built-in USB ports and charging tips. Solar panels and lithium batteries are incorporated into each station to ensure people are always able to charge, day or night.
