Southbridge Savings Bank has donated $3,500 to Rainbow Child Development Center in Worcester.

The money will be used to assist with the costs of background checks and fingerprinting of 100 center volunteers

"The center is a vibrant learning community, which provides high quality early education and care to "at risk" children during their early years of development," Ron Cooper, chairman of Southbridge Savings Bank’s charitable donations committee, said in a statement. "The volunteers at this center are an integral part of their success and we are proud to make this donation to assure no volunteer walks away because they cannot afford this fee."

Founded in 1972, Rainbow Child Development Center is a nonprofit early education and care agency for at-risk children.
