A state agency and a local social services group have signed two leases for a total of 38,000 square feet in Lynn and Malden, respectively.
The state’s Executive Office of Human Services leased 25,000 square feet for a 10-year office lease at the Clocktower Business Center at 330 Lynnway in Lynn.
The department leased the space as a consolidation of two of its existing regional agency offices- the Department of Children and Families and the Department of Mental Health. Both agencies will occupy the space by this summer, according to a statement.
In the Malden transaction, the tenant, Eliot Community Human Services, leased 13,000 square feet at 730 Eastern Ave.
It will house agency employees administering its local human services contracts with the state and local cities and towns, according to a statement.
Malden’s Burgess Properties Inc. has brokered deals.
"In their continuing efforts to lower public spending when and where possible, both the commonwealth and Eliot Community Human Services have seized a real opportunity by taking advantage of current office market conditions to save money through consolidation, while significantly upgrading the quality of each agency’s work environment at the same time," said Phil Burgess, the sole broker in each transaction.
