The Town of Chelmsford will receive a $600,000 state grant for environmental cleanup at the former Silicon Transistor Corp. property.

The site at 27 Katrina Road has already undergone hazardous materials and asbestos removal and the demolition of a building.

With the building gone, work to clean up materials once underneath the structure can begin.

Funding for the grant comes from the state Department of Environmental Protection, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and MassDevelopment. The site is one of six state "Brownfields Support Team" sites statewide.
