Boston-based Suffolk Construction Co. Inc. plans to acquire San Diego, Calif.-based ROEL Construction, which would make it the third construction company Suffolk has acquired in the last 15 months.
ROEL is a family-owned firm with more than 90 years of experience in the construction industry, according to a statement. ROEL offers services such as new construction, construction management, design-build, tenant improvement, LEED certified, structural concrete and consulting services.
"I have been impressed with ROEL and its longstanding history of quality work, client service and commitment to innovative building practices, which is why I am so excited about this opportunity to combine our strengths and resources," said John Fish, CEO, Suffolk Construction. "ROEL is a major player on the West Coast, so we see this as a tremendous growth opportunity, both locally in California and nationally, particularly in our core practice areas of commercial, multifamily residential, education, healthcare, science and technology."
"This deal is very exciting for everyone involved. I am thrilled about the career growth opportunity that this provides to the ROEL employees and also the new chapter that this presents to all of the ROEL shareholders," said Kevin Elliott, president of ROEL.
Suffolk Construction acquired Ashburn, Va.-based The Dietze Construction Group in January 2010 and William A. Berry & Son in September 2009.
