Berkshire Bank has partnered with FreeFrom, a national organization focusing on the connection between financial insecurity and intimate partner violence, to improve protections for employees experiencing domestic violence and develop products and services to support customers dealing with abuse.
Domestic violence is such a huge problem, no one in a position to make a difference can sit on the sidelines. Financial institutions are well positioned to help survivors and are to be commended for their efforts to do so.
Employees of Chelsea-based Metro Credit Union experienced firsthand the effects of domestic violence last December. Ersilia Cataldo Matarazzo had worked at the credit union for 20 years when she was fatally shot in front of her parents’ house in Everett. Her estranged husband has been charged with her murder.
