As Gov. Maura Healey and lawmakers celebrated what they called “historic” housing legislation getting signed into law Tuesday, some of the advocates credited with influencing the bill say it is “underwhelming.”
More than 115 members of the Massachusetts clergy signed onto an open letter to House and Senate leadership Sunday, saying that “it is clear that the issue of housing has all but consumed the hearts and minds of our people” and urging the Legislature to take five specific steps to contend with the state’s housing crunch.
It’s now eight months into Gov. Maura Healey’s administration and the wait continues for major proposals from the Corner Office to address perhaps the governor’s signature issue: housing affordability and production.
