TD Garden Concourse Renderings (10)Coming next season at the TD Garden: less popcorn, more selfies.

A $70 million makeover of the home of the Bruins and Celtics is designed to enhance the fan experience, and that means upgraded WiFi and new menus at the concession stands.

Owner Delaware North Cos. gave the media its first look Thursday at the ongoing construction project, which is remaking concourses, concessions, the pro shop and Legends Club.

Cisco is installing 400 WiFi antennas inside the hockey boards, to improve fans’ ability to connect online during events.

"Whether it be Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, you name it, all these will be part of a new multimedia experience for event-goers," said Charlie Jacobs, principal of Delaware North Cos. and the Boston Bruins.

The Legends Club for season ticket-holders is being expanded by 35 percent and getting a new high-end menu. The pro shop will be doubled in size to 6,100 square feet, with new entrances allowing fans to shop during the games. Previously it had a separate entrance in North Station.

Detroit-based architectural firm Rosetti designed the upgrades, including new LED video walls that will show live game action to fans waiting in concession lines and 90,000 square feet of new terrazzo floors on the concourse level. Subway-style tiles are being installed in the concession booths, with a new menu in the works including lobster rolls, fried seafood and burgers, said TD Garden President Amy Latimer.

Only eight of the new concessions will be ready in time for the start of the winter sports seasons in October. The rest will be installed on a rolling basis throughout the season.

The changes also include 25 new portable food and beverage carts, two new "market places" common areas and a wider selection of local craft beers.

A second phase covering the seventh-floor concourse will take place in the summer of 2015.
