Horace M. Thayer Jr. of East Walpole has joined Walpole Co-operative Bank as assistant vice president of commercial lending.

He has more than 35 years of banking experience, most recently as vice president credit liaison at Sovereign Bank, according to a statement.

Thayer has participated in the 20-mile Project Bread Walk for Hunger for nearly three decades, and has been an apheresis donor at the Dedham American Red Cross for more than 20 years. He serves as assistant treasurer for the Union Congregational Church in East Walpole, and has been an active member for more than 30 years.
