The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston today has appointed Henri A. Termeer as chairman and Kirk A. Sykes as deputy chairman for the board of directors for 2011.

Currently serving as chairman, Termeer has been a board member since 2007. He served as deputy chairman in 2007-2009. He is chairman, president and chief executive officer of Genzyme Corp. He is a member of the board of directors of the MIT Corp., Massachusetts General Hospital, and Partners Healthcare and is a member of Gov. Deval Patrick’s Council of Economic Advisors.

Sykes serves as the board’s current deputy chairman. He has been a board member since 2008. He is president and managing director of Urban Strategy America Fund, an urban investment, development and redevelopment fund.

Sykes serves on the boards of overseers at Beth Israel Hospital and Brigham & Women’s Hospital Osher Center, New England Board of National Association of Securities Professionals and on the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City Board.
