Philip F. Freehan, of Ipswich, has been named vice president with the commercial banking group of Wakefield-based The Savings Bank.
Freehan has more than 30 years of community banking and commercial lending experience. Prior to joining The Savings Bank, he worked at Meridian Financial Services Inc., holding company for East Boston Savings Bank, in Peabody for more than 25 years. At Meridian, he served as executive vice president/senior loan officer, bank director and Community Reinvestment Act officer.
Freehan received his bachelor’s of science degree with honors from Suffolk University and completed the Certified Financial Planner program at Merrimack College. He is also a graduate of the National School of Finance at Fairfield University. He also served in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Freehan also has many professional affiliations, including: chairman of the Real Estate Finance Committee of the Massachusetts Bankers Association; president of the board of trustees and scholarship chairman of the East Boston K Trust; and previously held the positions of chairman of the board of trustees, finance chairman and vice chairman at North Shore Community College.
