Millionaires Facebook Too!

Ever wonder what it would be like to live the life of a millionaire? Well, when it comes to social networking, it turns out those with seven-figure salaries want to be more like the rest of us.

A recent report found that Facebook usage among the country’s wealthy has nearly doubled this year to 46 percent, compared to just 26 percent in 2010, according to an analysis by the Spectrum Group. So, you see, when it comes to wasting time, it doesn’t matter what your net worth is. We all like to troll our Facebook news feeds and update our friends with inane happenings no matter what our financial standing is, right?

Well, according to the report, the more financially well off are using Facebook (and blogs) to ensure the future success of financial services firms. Wait a minute. Are you telling us that Facebook isn’t just for posting vacation pictures and letting everyone know about The Teller’s most recent night out on the town?

Do you think the super rich, like Warren Buffet, use Facebook? A quick search found two Facebook pages, but neither seemed legit. Then again, he’s probably too busy deleting the voicemails of billionaire-friendly Congressmen that still can’t quite believe what they read in his recent New York Times op-ed.

Steampunk Living

There are some people that dream of the white picket fence. Others fantasize about having walk-in closets. And then there are some that wish their homes represented a different way of living.

For one New York City man, this meant transforming his loft into something resembling a steampunk paradise, according to The New York Times.

Imagine walking into a home through a green submarine door only to encounter a 32-foot zeppelin that has taken over the room. Hanging from the walls and ceiling are gears, wheels and wood casting molds.

Now try to imagine selling this place. Yeah, The Teller couldn’t do it either.

But that is exactly the challenge one broker is facing with this $1.75 million listing that has “a mix of retro-industrial, underwater fantasy and science fiction elements” littering its rooms and hallways. At a marketing party recently held for this unique home, you could find guests dressed appropriately for their environment.

What exactly does one wear in a steampunk residence? As long as you have goggles and clothing that looks like it’s made out of gears and gadgets, you’re all set to go.
