BostonFashionWeekLogoMixing High-End Real Estate With Designer Fashion

Boston Fashion Week is in full swing and you all know what that means. Wait, us working stiffs probably don’t, but one high-end real estate agent certainly does.

Apparently, selling $15 million Beacon Hill townhomes just isn’t cutting it anymore for Boston’s Ricardo Rodriguez. He had to go and get a second job as the creative director of shi-shi Newbury Street designer Daniela Corte’s fashion label.

Well, we are still in a recession, so you can’t blame an agent for taking an opportunity when one comes by. Oh wait – that can’t be it because according to the National Bureau of Economic Research, Americans haven’t been in a recession since June 2009. Sure, prestigious and overpaid economists – whatever you say.

Anyways – back to Ricardo, who has turned his knack for staging a home into a talent for styling bikini-clad models for photo shoots in multi-million dollar residences. Instead of saying, “You’ll absolutely love the view from the rooftop garden,” he’s more apt to be overheard saying, “We want it to be playful. Think sexy. Think pin-up,” according to an account from The Boston Globe. The Teller is sure there are plenty of other agents who’d take a number and get in line to learn how he pulled this one off.

As one of the Boston’s most prominent real estate agents, Ricardo has actually made one of the smartest business moves possible. In addition to selling homes to ladies who lunch, he can now bend their ears when it comes to how they dress. And we all know there are certain local doyennesThe Teller will be nice enough not to name names – who could take a lesson or two in how not to dress.

Instead of outfitting himself in a suit and tie day-in and day-out, Rodriguez now gets to wear jeans and a tank top – at least on a part-time basis – for his side job in fashion. Between running back and forth between the models and photographers, checking hair and makeup, consulting with designers and making sure accessories are just right, we don’t know how he has time for his day job.

If you haven’t had the pleasure of Rodriguez showing you a luxury home, you can always stop by and pay him a visit when he lends his styling skills to Corte’s fashion show on Oct. 1.
