The Town of Ashland has purchased a 110-acre site known as "Warren Woods," located on Chestnut Street and Eliot Street in Ashland, from Northeastern University for $4 million.
Northeastern was gifted the Warren Woods site in the 1970s with the intention of expanding its Warren Conference Center & Inn campus, located across Chestnut Street from the Warren Woods site.
Colliers International Senior Vice President Robert Cronin, who represented both parties in the deal, said that although a number of development firms submitted purchase proposals, "Northeastern felt that the ‘right’ thing to do was to sell the property to the town of Ashland so that the local community can benefit from this wonderful open-space resource for many years to come. It was a beneficial transaction for both the buyer and the seller."
