Derek LosiDerek Losi, a senior associate in the Boston office of UGL Services, has been named a recipient of the Robert W. Holmes Scholarship Award, recognizing the achievements and attainments of young real estate professionals with less than five years of experience in the industry.

The New England Chapter of the Society of Office & Industrial Brokers (SIOR) established the scholarship award in 2007, in memory of the late Robert W. Holmes, a long-time SIOR member who launched his own real estate firm in 1976.

Losi, 27, who joined UGL Services in 2008, is a graduate of Babson College, and has been working toward achieving the 2011 award through the past year, taking an SIOR Professional Course in Chicago and attending SIOR conferences. He has been involved in more than 300,000 square feet of lease transactions since joining the company, including nearly 200,000 square feet representing the Harvard School of Public Health.

The New England Chapter cited Losi for the outstanding volunteer work he has done on behalf of Multiple Schlerosis research in the 2011 MS Cape Cod Getaway event – a 150-mile bicycle marathon from Boston to Provincetown, according to a statement.

SIOR Chapter President Thomas Farrelly said Losi "fits the profile" of an ideal SIOR high achiever. "He aggressively pursued the scholarship and really gets that it’s just an incredible platform to help him grow in this business."
