UMass is celebrating a major expansion of a high-tech study and research area in the Amherst campus’ main library.
Chancellor Robert Holub and other campus officials are scheduled to attend the event Monday at the Learning Commons in the W.E.B. Du Bois Library.
The Learning Commons is an area where students have access to PC and Mac work stations, computer research tools, academic advising, tutoring and writing assistance.
The expansion includes a 20 percent increase in overall space to 30,000 square feet, a 60 percent boost in seating to 450 and eight new group study rooms.
