united bankWest Springfield’s United Bank Foundation has awarded $31,500 to several local organizations whose initiatives are designed to improve the quality of life in communities served by the bank.

The Enchanted Circle Theater was awarded $3,500 to help fund the theater¹s district-wide arts integration initiative in the Northampton Public Schools, according to a statement. Girls Inc. of Holyoke, who is working to expand the capacity of the Mentors and Mentees Are Coming Together Connecting program in Holyoke, was given a $5,000 award.

Martin Luther King Jr. Family Services Inc. will receive $5,000 in support of its plan to re-open the Richard Stebbins Computer Learning Center, according to a statement. The Springfield Boys and Girls Club received the $3,500 to support its after school program and to help in providing three educational coaches to work with the program¹s 150-plus participants.

The Northampton Academy of Music will receive $1,000 for its children¹s programming initiative, and the Jewish Federation of Greater Springfield was granted $1,000, according to a statement. Spirit of Springfield was awarded $2,500 in support of its Bright Nights program, and grants of $500 each were awarded to Domus Inc. for the Westfield Community Education Program and to Hilltown CDC to support first-time homebuyer programs in the Hilltowns.

United Bank and its foundation are also sponsoring the Springfield Public Forum¹s 75th Anniversary season and the Springfield Symphony Orchestra¹s Opening Night Classical Concert with grants totaling $15,000 each.
