Chrystal Kornegay, CEO of Urban Edge, a community development corporation (CDC) based in Boston’s Jamaica Plain and Roxbury neighborhoods, has been selected to participate in the NeighborWorks "Achieving Excellence in Community Development" program in collaboration with Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
Kornegay was one of 49 leaders selected for the class – a "prestigious and highly selective training program offered by NeighborWorks America," according to a statement.
"I am thrilled to be selected for this program," said Kornegay. "I look forward to taking full advantage of the curriculum and using what I learn to assist Urban Edge as we continue to develop and sustain stable, healthy and diverse communities."
Achieving Excellence is an 18-month educational program for senior leaders in community organizations that have a focus on affordable housing, community revitalization or community economic development. At the beginning of the program, participants select a specific and significant challenge facing their organizations for which solutions will not only dramatically change how their organizations do business, but also enable them to make lasting change in their communities.
Ken Wade, CEO of NeighborWorks America, said only the most experienced and sophisticated executive directors and senior level staff participate in this program.
"The participants’ selection is a testament to their exceptional skills and long-term commitment to improving our nation’s communities and the lives of their residents," said Wade.
