Waltham-based Vantage Builders has completed a 22,000-square-foot buildout for Columbia Gas of Massachusetts’ new call center and training facility in Springfield.
The facility at 100 Brookdale Ave. was previously used by the U.S. Postal Service as a distribution center. Designed by Saccoccio & Assoc., the new facility contains two 30-person conference rooms and 120 work stations. Mobile pedestals were installed for impromptu meetings, and the break room contains high-top seating, pendant lights and a large-screen TV.
The new training center contains audio-visual equipment and modular tables for custom training sessions that can accommodate up to 24 employees. The project, completed in seven weeks, included internal demolition and abatement work and installation of new utilities and a back-up generator.
The new center replaces Columbia Gas’s facility at 2025 Roosevelt Ave. The project team included owner’s project manager Cushman & Wakefield and Engineering Design Services Inc.
