Boston-based construction management firm Walsh Brothers Inc. has been awarded the contract for a 10-story, 110,000-square foot expansion project at Children’s Hospital Boston (CHB).
The building addition to the hospital is being constructed in order to address a higher volume of pediatric inpatient needs, forecasted population increases, demand for single-patient rooms, emerging pediatric trends and a need for expanded emergency, surgical and radiology suites, according to a statement. The new expansion will provide CHB with 12 new short stay (23-hour observation) beds and as many as 44-single-bed inpatient rooms.
Boston-based architecture firm Payette, a partner of Walsh Brothers, is the architect for the project.
