A 150,000-square-foot lease by shoe manufacturer Wolverine Worldwide will anchor a new 230,000-square-foot office complex in Waltham developed by Boston Properties.
The site, 10 CityPoint, is a new mixed-use office and retail complex that recently broke ground near exit 27 on Route 128. Completion is estimated in mid-2016.
The offices will house Wolverine’s Sperry Top-Sider, Saucony, Keds and Stride Rite brand headquarters. The building will include ground-level retail and restaurant space anchored by a Bonefish Grill and Posto pizzeria. Approximately 15,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space remain available.
"This transaction represents what we are seeing most all users today want throughout the country, but is very difficult to find within Greater Boston. That is efficient, high quality, value-driven real estate with walkable urban conveniences such as restaurants, bars and hotels," said John Boyle, a Cassidy Turley principal, in a statement.
Rockford, Mich.-based Wolverine currently has local offices at 191 Spring St. in Lexington.
Posto, which opened its first restaurant in Somerville’s Davis Square in 2010, is headed by chef and owner Joseph Cassinelli. Bonefish Grill is a seafood restaurant chain by Tampa, Fla.-based Bloomin’ Brands Inc., with a local outlet at the Wayside Commons lifestyle center in Burlington.
Suburban landlords have been adding restaurants and retail shops to office parks to compete with vibrant downtown neighborhoods. In Burlington, the Bancroft restaurant recently opened in the 3rd Ave. shopping center, being built inside Northwest Park by Nordblom Co. A Tony C’s sports bar and Kings, a bowling-themed nightclub, are under construction.
