Alex Cruz has been named branch manager of Webster Five Cents Savings Bank’s Commercial Street branch in Worcester.
As branch manager, Cruz will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities at the branch. He previously served as branch manager for Sovereign Bank for five years.

The Webster Five Foundation, a charitable organization founded by Webster Five Cents Savings Bank, has donated $1,500 to the Worcester Youth Center.
The funds will support the basic skills program, a special program that helps prepare out-of-school young adults for a General Education Equivalency (GED) diploma, according to a statement.
"We are proud to donate to such a worthy cause. Helping young adults gain the basic skills to be successful for the future is a program in which we are pleased to be involved," said Richard T. Leahy, president and chief executive officer of Webster Five Cents Savings Bank.
In a statement, Hilda Ramirez, executive director of the Worcester Youth Center, said the donation will provide the center with appropriate materials, workbooks and compensation for teachers.
The Webster Five Foundation also donated $2,000 to the VNA Care Network & Hospice to support the patient care assistance program.
"We are very grateful for the donation from Webster Five," said Karen Green, president and CEO. "We rely on contributions in order to provide patient care and purchase medical equipment. Without the support from Webster Five, we would not be able to provide in-home care for the patients in need."
