CBRE Group Inc. has added Steve Wendel to CBRE Capital Markets’ multifamily division, as FHA lending head of production.

Wendel will play a key role in the expansion of CBRE’s FHA lending platform for multifamily and seniors housing loans. He will work from the company’s Boston office with CBRE’s FHA originators and the broader range of CBRE’s multifamily debt producers to originate FHAloans.

Wendel joins CBRE Capital Markets from Berkeley Point Capital, where he was executive managing director, and led the FHA, seniors and student housing programs. He previously was managing director and co-head at Deutsche Bank Berkshire Mortgage and managing director and head of commercial real estate at ContiFinancial Corp.

He is a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association’s (MBA) Commercial/Multifamily Board of Governors, chairman of the MBA’s FHA advisory committee and vice chairman of its multifamily council.

"Steve is an accomplished commercial real estate investment professional with nearly three decades of experience," Stephanie McFadden, managing director of FHA lending at CBRE Capital Markets, said in a statement. "We look forward to his leadership of our production team, along with his extensive experience and strategic vision as we continue to grow our FHA team."
