Westfield Bank this week announced plans to expand into Connecticut with a full-service brand in Granby.

Westfield Financial, the bank’s parent company, intends to open the branch at the Granby Village Shops on Hartford Avenue sometime in the coming months and will announce an official opening date when it obtains approval.

"We’re excited to expand our presence into Connecticut. Granby provides us with a solid base to reach a broad range of consumer and businesses for their deposit and borrowing needs," President and CEO James C. Hagan said in a statement.

Westfield Bank said lender Thomas Glynn will work out of the new location. Glynn joined the bank last fall.

The bank currently has 11 branches throughout Hampden County and one residential loan center in Western Massachusetts.
