Anchor Line Partners is joining the rush to build more housing in and around the Boston Landing area of Boston’s Allston Neighborhood.

The company filed a letter of intent with the Boston Planning & Development Agency earlier this week for a 120-unit multifamily building at 90 Braintree St. The site is a stone’s throw from a large mixed office-residential project proposed by Bracken Development in August.

The site is currently occupied by a 10,000-square-foot industrial building and parking lot.

The Anchor Line proposal would rise 6 stories high over the 23,385-square-foot site and contain roughly 84,000 square feet of space. Parking options will include spaces for 60 vehicles and 120 bicycles. Anchor Line is also proposing to pay for upgrades to a playground next door on Penniman Road.

The letter filed with the BPDA includes a pledge of setting aside 20 units – 17 percent of the total – aside as affordable housing. Projects outside of Boston’s core areas are only required to set aside 13 percent of their units as affordable, however the nearby 1.2 million-square-foot Allston Yards project came under significant pressure during the permitting process to exceed the city requirement that 13 percent of its units be restricted as affordable housing.

The project is not Anchor Line’s only active one in Allston. It recently won approval for a 166-unit apartment project at 449 Cambridge St.
