A three-building, 650,000-square-foot development including office and lab space is proposed at the WBZ-TV/CBS studio property on Allston’s Soldiers Field Road.
Newton-based National Development says the master-planned development would begin with an 8-story, 210,000-square-foot office-lab building on a 2-acre portion of the 6-acre site currently occupied by the WBZ-TV/CBS studios at 1170 Soldiers Field Road.
In December, the Boston Planning and Development Agency approved construction of a new 63,000-square-foot studio for the station at 1170-1200 Soldiers Field Road. That clears the way for redevelopment of the remaining site, including demolition of the original studios constructed in 1948, to make way for the office-lab complex. Developers are seeking approval under a planned development area, according to a notification letter submitted to BPDA by Sherry Clancy, National Development’s project manager.
Developers including Boston-based King Street Properties and Harvard Allston Land Co. are seeking approval for large-scale projects including life science components in Allston.
National Development said it expects that the proposal conforms with future rezoning following completion of the BPDA’s Western Avenue corridor planning study.
