Fall River Police Officer Brett Kimball has been named the 162nd Hometown Hero by Fall River-based BankFive.
Kimball was recognized for his dedication to the community and efforts to have a positive influence on the youth of SouthCoast, according to a statement.
"He is determined to maintain the positive image of police by interacting with the public through education initiatives and outreach," said Thomas F. Lyons, BankFive president and CEO when he presented the officer with the award. "He goes above and beyond the call of duty."
Each year, Kimball helps to collect funds to purchase toys for up to 70 families throughout the community during the holiday season, according to a statement. He also volunteers at the Atlantis Charter School, Boys and Girls Club of Fall River and Fall River Housing Authority.
"I love this community and enjoy giving back by sharing the knowledge I have gained through my police training," said Kimball. "Citizens need to know they have someone they can rely on, and interacting with the community is one of the most rewarding experiences I have had."
Kimball has been an officer of the Fall River Police Department since 2002.
