Wellesley-based Harbinger Development has been selected to build a 405-room hotel in Boston’s Marine Industrial Park.
The city’s Economic Development and Industrial Corp. approved the tentative developer designation for Harbinger Thursday. Located on a 1-acre parcel off Summer Street, the project would include 6,500 square feet of retail and restaurant space, 4,000 square feet of function space and an indoor pool.
The parcel is owned by the EDIC and could be leased for 70 years by Harbinger, which has selected Perkins + Will as its architect and is in talks with Hilton Worldwide to operate the hotel. Harbinger is developing the 330-room Starwood Aloft and 180-room Starwood Element hotels in the Seaport District which are expected to open early next year.
During its monthly meeting Thursday, the Boston Redevelopment Authority also approved housing developments in Allston-Brighton and Roxbury totaling 128 units.
Amended plans for 88 condos at the $35-million Telford 180 development were approved. The project at 180 Telford St. in Allston-Brighton will replace three vacant buildings that will be demolished. The overall project by The Davis Cos. of Boston will include a total of 340 units of mixed-income housing, a public plaza on Western Avenue, a resident courtyard and 4,600 square feet of amenity space.
In Roxbury, The Community Builders received final approval for 38 apartments and a two-family home on Blue Hill Avenue. The $12-million project will include 32 deed-restricted affordable units and eight market-rate units.
