Century Bancorp, the holding company of Century Bank, continued to increase commercial and industrial lending, while also reporting double-digit income growth in the third quarter of this year.

Former Century Bank president and longtime board member George Swansburg has resigned from the bank’s board of directors.

The bank announced in an SEC report that Swansburg, 78, had resigned on June 1.

Swansburg began serving on the holding company’s board of directors in 1986. He joined the bank’s board in 1992, the same year he became Century Bank’s president.

Swansburg was Century Bank’s president and chief operating officer from 1992 to 1998.
