Debi Benoit, principal of Benoit Mizner Simon & Co. Real Estate (BMS), has been named the No. 1 broker in Wellesley for the 12th year in a row.

In addition to Benoit’s personal success, the company’s Wellesley office is celebrating its first-place finish in this highly competitive market. BMS’s three offices in Wellesley, Weston and Needham are managed by Benoit and the company’s two other principals, Amy Mizner and Sheryl Simon.

Benoit emerged as the top broker in Massachusetts for single-family homes at the close of 2017. In addition, last fall she was ranked No. 48 in the country for transaction volume by The Wall Street Journal’s “Real Trends Top 250 Individual Real Estate Professionals.”

BMS Wellesley office’s ranking in the market surpassed its chief competitor, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, a feat that has not been accomplished by any local real estate company in 26 years, according to a statement from BMS.

Benoit and her partners founded the company in 2010 after a successful career with Coldwell Banker. As a private brokerage, BMS has quickly become a market leader, gaining market share and attracting more than 100 sales professionals to its three offices in Boston’s MetroWest suburbs.

With the news of BMS’s success came a rumor that the principals were in talks with Compass Real Estate about a possible acquisition. A Compass representative declined to comment, while Benoit addressed it indirectly.

“Many companies have reached out to us and when we look at the numbers on MLS, we understand why,” she told Banker & Tradesman. “It is sure is nice to be the most popular girls at the dance and we are very flattered. The market is great and January and February look like 2018 is going to be another good year.”
