Alexandria Real Estate Equities’ Waltham life science campus inked a 165,940-square-foot lease with a Danish health care company.

Novo Nordisk signed the full building lease at 60 Sylvan Road, Alexandria announced today. The company, which had 2022 revenues of $25 billion, operates an existing innovation center at 255 Main St. in Cambridge.

Alexandria acquired the Reservoir Woods East campus including the 60 Sylvan Road property in 2020 for $330 million. The former Verizon office park is being redeveloped as life science space, with delivery to Novo Nordisk scheduled for early 2025, Alexandria said.

In early 2023, Novo Nordisk announced expansion plans for its research divisions in Lexington and Watertown as part of a strategy for a major presence in Greater Boston, while cutting back its workforce in Seattle and Indianapolis. The company previously expanded its local presence in 2021 with the acquisition of Lexington-based Dicerna Pharmaceuticals.

The 1.5 million-square-foot Waltham campus has been rebranded as the Alexandria Center for Life Science – Waltham and also includes 40 and 50 Sylvan Road, 35 Gatehouse Drive and 840 Winter St.
