Haemonetics Corp. is the latest South Shore company to relocate its headquarters to Boston and has put its 17-acre properties on Wood Road in Braintree on the market.

The company, which makes medical equipment used in transfusion procedures, leased 62,000 square feet at 125 Summer St. across from South Station.

Like other suburban companies that have relocated to downtown Boston and the Seaport District, Haemonetics said the move will be a recruiting tool and foster collaboration with business partners.

“Haemonetics’ move to Boston will position our teams to work in close proximity to the city’s world-class healthcare, technology and higher education communities and its thriving culture of innovation,” CEO Chris Simon said in a statement. “As a company driving accelerated growth, this move will provide a dynamic space to engage our employees as we advance our ways of working.”

Haemonetics reported revenues of $471 million for the first half of fiscal 2019, up 7.9 percent.

Housing 200 employees, the new headquarters which opens next year will include lab and research space along with corporate functions. The lease runs through 2032.

After acquiring the 475,303-square-foot 125 Summer St. tower in 2014 for $242.5 million, Toronto-based Oxford Properties spent $10 million on capital improvements including a new main entrance, lobby and updated outdoor plaza.

Cushman & Wakefield represented Haemonetics in the 125 Summer St. lease transaction and will broker the sale of the Braintree campus.
