A manufacturer of cameras used in auto assembly will open a new facility in Billerica after leasing 30,665 square feet of R&D space in Axis Park North.

ASMPT Aei leased 30,665 square feet at 101 Billerica Ave.

Singapore-based ASM Pacific Technology Ltd. acquired Automation Engineering Inc. from Mycronic Group in February 2022. AEi was founded in Tewksbury in 1990.

In announcing the deal last year, ASMPT said the deal will enable it to expand into markets such as security surveillance, drones and laser scanning.

The 38-acre Axis Park North spans six buildings totaling 450,000 square feet. Tenants have leased more than 130,000 square feet at the campus in the past 12 months.

Newmark Senior Managing Director Rory Walsh and Executive Managing Directors Richard Ruggiero, Torin Taylor and Matthew Adams represented the landlord, a partnership between Boston-based Camber Development and Wheelock Street Capital, in the transaction.

CBRE’s Kevin Kennedy and Tom Hovey represented the tenant.
