Braintree Village Apartments at 2 McCusker Drive in Braintree has received $40.5 million in MassHousing financing to help extend affordability and fund improvements.

Braintree Village LP refinanced the complex through the Federal Financing Bank. As part of the financing, 30 percent of the units, or 98 apartments, will remain affordable for lower-income residents.

The property owners have earmarked approximately $10 million for current and future upgrades. Anticipated renovations include accessibility improvements, window replacement and parking lot resurfacing. The development was significantly rehabilitated in 2000.

The complex was built in 1972 and consists of 27 3-story residential buildings and a single-story community building. There are 120 one-bedroom, 159 two-bedroom and 45 three-bedroom apartments. Other amenities include an outdoor pool, exercise room, playground and laundry facilities. The property is managed by Peabody Properties.
