A Finland-based environmental equipment company will relocate its local offices from Woburn to a lab conversion led by Jumbo Capital in Burlington.

Vaisala leased 28,000 square feet of office and lab space at the GenLabs complex at 3 Van De Graaff Drive. The company specializes in weather and environmental equipment, including lightning strike detection technology.

In 2021, Jumbo Capital and a fund managed by Apollo Global Management acquired the 320,000-square-foot office building for $76 million.

The lab conversion includes a new lobby, entrance and new amenity spaces including a collaboration area, board room and gaming area. It received its first lease in September 2022, when Fractyl Health committed to relocate from Lexington to 78,000 square feet on the second and third floors.

Vaisala will relocate from 12 Gill St. in Woburn to a portion of the first floor at GenLabs.

CBRE’s Alex Plaisted, Ryan Romano and Christian Vallis worked with Vaisala and ownership on the transaction.

“As a global company, Vaisala wanted to update its operations in the highest quality lab space that better matched its image. GenLabs met all of Vaisala’s requirements as one of the premier life science properties in the region, as well as its close proximity to numerous transportation options and amenities in Burlington,” Plaisted said in a statement.
