Shake Shack, Fogo De Chao, Bennett’s Sandwich Shop and Parm will open in a portion of the Burlington Mall formerly occupied by Sears and undergoing an extensive renovation project.

Simon Property Group said the new restaurant arrivals are scheduled to open this fall as it converts one of the mall’s former anchor spaces into a mix of dining and retail options. The project also includes creation of a 1-acre outdoor area for patio dining and seasonal events.

Burlington Mall previously redeveloped the 48,000-square-foot former Sears Auto Center as a multitenant space including Caffe Nero and other retailers and restaurants.

New retailers joining the mall’s tenant roster in the next year include Fabletics, Miltons The Store For Men and Lands’ End, Simon Property Group announced Monday. Additional arrivals will be announced later this year.

Sears’ departure as an anchor tenant is one of the catalysts for redevelopment of the Cambridgeside Galleria, where New England Development is set to begin converting the space into a 5-story office and lab building with ground-floor retail. The mixed-use project will add 575,000 square feet to the East Cambridge property, including multifamily housing.

Taunton officials are seeking industrial redevelopment of the former Silver City Galleria, which closed in 2020 after losing anchors including Sears, Macy’s and Best Buy.
