Clarks Americas Inc. has signed a 120,000-square-foot, 15-year lease for the former Polaroid building at 1265 Main St. in Waltham.

The Newton-based subsidiary of British shoe company C&J Clark Limited will occupy the entire four-story building overlooking Route 128. Construction begins this month.

The offices will contain such amenities as a roof deck, 5,000-square-foot private outdoor terrace, fitness center, 50-foot skylights and three-story lobby.

Boston Properties is partnering with 1265 Main Street LLC, the developers of the site, on the office project.

The retail phase of the development opened last fall anchored by a Market Basket supermarket. The overall development parcel spans 120 acres with potential for up to 1.2 million square feet of development.

“Waltham is the next great place for our people to thrive and for Clarks to design stylish, comfortable shoes that meet the needs of our consumers and retail partners. This is a very exciting move for Clarks, and I’m confident that 1265 Main will be a great fit for many years to come,” Geralyn R. Breig, president of Clarks Americas Inc., said in a statement.

The interior design bid was awarded to ADD Inc., which has merged with Boston-based Stantec. The exterior design bid was awarded to Spagnolo Gisness & Assoc. Inc. of Boston. Move-in will begin in fall 2016.

Clarks’ North American headquarters is currently located at 26 Oak St., a refurbished mill building in Newton Upper Falls. Clarks signed a lease expansion for 87,411 square feet in 2006 and for an additional 23,030 square feet in 2012.
