Co-living specialist Common said it’s planning to rely on virtual tours and online leasing in the coming weeks in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The New York-based company, which is partnering with Boston-based Boylston Properties and ARX Urban on a proposed 282-bedroom complex at 525 Lincoln St. in Allston, said it’s taking additional steps to disinfect shared spaces in its existing complexes. All staff have been directed to wear gloves on-site, and it’s limiting in-person leasing tours to vacant units in some markets.
“Over the past 3 months, 32 percent of converted tenants signed leases through virtual tours alone,” Common announced today in a newsletter. “Even when faced with a global pandemic, we can continue to lease units without on-site leasing agents. Tech-enabled, centralized digital marketing is more cost-effective than using brokers or on-site leasing agents.
