Massachusetts’ many Coldwell Banker agents will have a new CEO overseeing them and the company’s other agents around the country.

M. Ryan Gorman, long a fixture at CB’s parent company Anywhere holding various senior executive positions, is now a “senior strategic advisor,” Anywhere said in a statement released Tuesday afternoon. Anywhere Brands President and CEO Sue Yannaccone will take on the Coldwell Banker, as well. Anywhere Brands is the subsidiary of Anywhere Real Estate – formerly Realogy Holdings Corp. – that controls the company’s portfolio of real estate brokerage brands including Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate, CENTURY 21, Corcoran, ERA, and Sotheby’s International Realty.

Gorman had been Coldwell Banker CEO for the past three years. Yannaccone joined Anywhere in 2015 and was named head of Anywhere Brands in November 2020.

“Don and Sue are exceptional leaders with deep expertise running multiple successful scaled businesses,” Anywhere President and CEO Ryan Schneider said in a statement “We believe having a singular leader for our core real estate brokerage business and likewise, for the real estate transaction services we provide, will help Anywhere move even faster, create more value for our customers, and ultimately, deliver a better experience for both affiliated agents and consumers.”

The company did not explain the reason for Gorman’s sudden departure, but it follows declines in Anywhere’s stock price driven by the cooling real estate market and it comes as brokerages around the country are facing a potentially tough real estate market in 2023.

Along with announcing Gorman’s departure, Anywhere revealed that Katrina Helmkamp, president and CEO of the company’s Cartus relocation services business, is retiring at the end of 2022. She will be replaced by Don Casey, president and CEO of Anywhere’s title and settlement services, insurance, and mortgage and underwriter joint-ventures.

“Cartus and Coldwell Banker are both in strong, industry-leading positions,” Schneider said. “I am grateful for Katrina’s and Ryan’s leadership, including driving growth of their respective businesses, simplifying operations, and innovating with new products, technology, and marketing to support affiliated agents, franchise owners, and mobility clients. We wish them both well as they move to what’s next.”
