Rhode Island-based bank Citizens announced it was providing $397,000 in “direct support” and volunteer time to 15 Massachusetts nonprofits “, that give people the resources they need to be financially healthy and inspire them to pursue their goals” at the start of April, when the banking sector traditionally observes Financial Literacy Month.

Hanscom Federal Credit Union participated in the South Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade with a float honoring veterans and their families as well as veteran organizations Hanscom FCU supports, including Home Base, Veterans Inc., Clear Path for Veterans and Mass Fallen Heroes.

Chelsea-based Metro Credit Union announced it was forming a charitable foundation that will make grants on a quarterly basis to organizations engaged in community development, groups that teach financial literacy and those doing housing work like homebuyer education or affordable housing construction.
