Rhode Island-based bank Citizens announced it was providing $397,000 in “direct support” and volunteer time to 15 Massachusetts nonprofits “, that give people the resources they need to be financially healthy and inspire them to pursue their goals” at the start of April, when the banking sector traditionally observes Financial Literacy Month.

Metro Credit Union

Chelsea-based Metro Credit Union announced it was forming a charitable foundation that will make grants on a quarterly basis to organizations engaged in community development, groups that teach financial literacy and those doing housing work like homebuyer education or affordable housing construction.

Rollstone Bank & Trust 

Leominster-based Rollstone Bank & Trust donated $2,500 to to Just Understand My Potential in support of a $50,000 grant challenge to be used for outdoor adventure education for area youth in grades 2 and up.
